Have you noticed the chairs you are sitting in? Probably if you are like most men you don't pay it much attention at all. But chairs are an integral part of your life. As the old saying goes, "The clothes define the man." We would include that the chair also defines the man. Many people do not realize that they leave a part of their energy in the places they sit.
There have been studies done of college students who, when given the opportunity to chose a chair that they previously sat in as opposed to one they never sat in, they by vast majority chose the chair they had previously used, even if they were otherwise identical. Scientists think that this phenomena is caused by the placement of subtle energy or energetic imprinting wherever we go, and we sit, and might be the reasons we have a favorite chair or hat or shirt, because our choice and familiarity with these items creates not only a recognition factor, but also a personalization through the leaving behind of a subtle energy imprint on the things we like and use.
When it comes to chairs as they relate to men and their fashion choices, one archetype comes to mind. Think about the character of Archie Bunker from the television show "All in the Family" produced by Norman Lear that was made so popular during the 1980's. Archie had his favorite chair for watching television and he was highly disturbed by anyone's attempt to use that chair when he wanted to sit in it. Some may think this is because dad's favorite chair is more comfortable, but this is not necessarily the case, since the sofa or a new chair would be far more comfortable in the cases where the favorite chair is literally worn out.
Chairs are like clothes. They are a distinct part of what makes up a man, and the choice of the chair at home and the chair at the office can had a dramatic effect on the feelings of the man and how he regards himself. When choosing a chair, it is best to find one that you can call your own and go for quality if it is going to become your favorite chair at home because you may spend up to a quarter of your life sitting in it, if you are like an average male that watches 4-6 hours of television per day. For the choice of an office chair, choose one not only for comfort, but also one that says something about how you perceive yourself. Don't settle for the cheapo office chair, even if you have to pay for a good one out of your own money.
If you want to have a powerful presentation of yourself, choose a high-back leather chair that both supports you for comfort and presents you in an almost regal way, as if you are sitting on a throne. People will treat you differently depending on the type of chair you are sitting in. In this way your chair becomes part of your fashion statement and an integral part of who you are and how you are perceived by others.
