The home on Daria Place that former President George W. Bush and Laura Bush bought in December of 2008 is in the leafy Preston Hollow neighborhood of Dallas, and a few blocks from an elementary school.
The one-story home has 8,501 square feet on 1.13 acres and no pool. It was built in 1959 but
extensively renovated by the previous owner, a Dallas investor and art collector named Dan Boeckman. The Bushes also bought the 1.26 acre, 4000 square foot ranch home next door, which had been listed at $1.6 million, but tore it down in January, 2010.The Bush home is located on a closed cul de sac, and it was closed off by an electronic gate for security purposes in late 2009.
The student, Khalid Ali-M Aldawsari, is 20 years old, and is charged in a federal criminal complaint with attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction. Aldawsari is in the U.S. on a 2008 student visa, and is enrolled at tiny South Plains College, near Lubbock, Tex., which is the home of Texas Tech University. Apparently Ali-M Aldawsari wasn't going to stop with exploding the Bush home: he also is said to have been targeting nightclubs in Dallas, reservoirs and dams in the west, and nuclear power plants.
